TANCET 2014 Online Registration

                                   The Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is an exam conducted by Anna University, Chennai for studying Post Graduate courses like M.Tech, M.E, M.Arch, M.B.A only in the colleges of Tamil Nadu.  The procedure to seek admissions for the above said courses for the academic year 2014-2015 consists of following steps:-

ü Appearing for TANCET in March 2014

ü Applying to the respective admitting authorities for admission.

As mentioned above, government has given authority to Anna University to conduc TANCET every academic year for admission to:-

ü M.B.A – Master of Business Administration

ü M.C.A – Master of Computer Applications

ü M.E – Master of Engineering

ü M.Tech – Master of Technology

ü  M.Arch. – Master of Architecture

ü M.Plan. – Master of Planning.

Most importantly these degrees are offered in colleges in Tamil Nadu which is why It is called TANCET according to [G.O. (Rt) No. 166, Higher Education (j2) Department. These degree programmes are offered at:-

ü University Departments of Anna University

ü Government and Government aided colleges and Arts and Science colleges

ü Self-Financing Colleges

ü Other Universities functioning under the Act in Tamil Nadu and Self-financing colleges.

ELIGIBILITY –

The following are the eligibility criteria to apply for TANCET examination:-

ü If the candidates are seeking to apply for M.B.A then – A pass in a Bachelor’s degree of minimum 3 years and an aggregate of 50% (45% in the case of candidates falling under reserved category) in the respective qualifying degree examination.

            10 +2+3/4 year’s pattern.

ü If the candidates are seeking to apply for M.C.A then – A pass in a recognized degree of minimum 3 years with math at 10+2 level or graduate level and an aggregate of 50%  (45% in the case of candidates falling under reserved category) in the respective degree examination.

10+2+3/4 year’s pattern

M.C.A ( Lateral Entry) -  A pass in a recognized degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B.Sc ( computer science/ information technology) with math as a course at 10+2 level or graduate level and obtained an aggregate of 50% (45% in the case of candidates falling under reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.

10+2+3 year’s pattern

ü If the candidates are seeking to apply for M.E, M.Tech, M.Arch, and M.Plan – A pass in an equivalent degree in the respective field and an aggregate of 50% (45% in the case of candidates falling under reserved category) in the qualifying degree examination.

B.E, B.Tech, B.Arch and B.Plan

REGISTRATION FOR ENTRANCE TEST –

The candidates can register for the entrance test in two ways. A candidate can either register in person or register through internet. A candidate who is applying or registering in person should appear at the co-coordinating centers and a candidate who is registering online can register through filling forms online application form by downloading and sending it to the respective email address. Application submitted through both ways should have the following documents.

ü A copy of X std. or equivalent mark sheet

ü A copy of XII std. or 3 years Diploma certificate

ü Entrance test fee in the form of cash or demand draft

ü A copy of the permanent community certificate for availing fee concession.

ENTRANCE TEST FEE –

For candidates who register in person, cash or demand draft for Rs 500/- ( Rs 250/- for SC/ST/SCA candidates in Tamil Nadu) drawn in favor of  ‘’The Secretary, TANCET, Anna University, Chennai’’ payable at Chennai, obtained from any Nationalized Bank which should be submitted along with the application form.
