Preparation for TANCET Examination 2015

Tamilnadu Common Entrance Test is the test that has to be taken for admission into MBA M.E/M.Tech programmes offered by Anna University and colleges affiliated to Anna University.  This examination is conducted by Anna University. The Government College of Technology Coimbatore, The Government Colleges of Engineering at Salem and Tirunelveli and other Government aided and unaided Colleges. TANCET is held annually. Large number of students appears for this entrance examination. This is the most popular examination of Tamil Nadu. The list of schools accepting the scores of TANCET will be released by the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamilnadu.
The test usually has 100 questions split into 5 parts and the duration of the test is 2 hours. 5 answer choices are given for each question. Every correct answer fetches 1 mark while every incorrect answer results in ¼ of a mark being deducted as penalty.
Preparation for TANCET Examination
Here are some useful tips for candidates preparing for their TANCET Examination, irrespective of the course for which they wish to join:
Routine Time Table: Success in any entrance examinations like TANCET can be obtained only through sincere efforts and confidence. For putting sincere efforts, candidates will have to follow a routine time table right from the initial stage of their preparation to the TANCET Examination. While preparing the time table, candidates will have make sure that equal important is given to all subjects or candidates can also allot more time for preparing for a subject in which they are not that much confident
Effective Time Management: Time Management is an important factor to be considered when practising for TANCET Examination. While preparing, candidates should practice well in such a way that they can manage the allotted time in an effective manner since completion of the paper within the given time is highly mandatory instead of last minute rush of answering.
Practice with past papers: Practising well is highly essential and if and only when the candidates practice with the previous years question papers like conducting mock test themselves so that they will be able to effectively manage to solve the paper easily within a time line.

Beware of Negative marks: Since TANCET examination has negative marking for every wrong answer, candidates will have to be careful when answering the question. Thoroughly read of the questions before answering is essential so that wrong answers can be avoided.

Pattern for TANCET Examination 2015

MBA:  Exam will be conducted for two hours duration and the question paper will be objective type, each Question carrys one mark and there will be a Negative marking for each wrong  Answer which carrys  1/5th of the  mark .
 TANCET Exam for MBA will have questions under the following categories:
• Data Interpretation
• Quantitative Ability
• Logical Reasoning
• English
MCA: Entrance examination for MCA admissions will be conducted for 100 marks. Each correct answer will carry 1 mark and 1/4th  Negtive mark for each  wrong answer.
TANCET Exam for MCA will have questions under the following categories:
• Quantitative Ability
• Analytical Reasoning
• Logical Reasoning
• Computer Awareness
M. Tech/M.E./M. Arch/M. Plan: For these courses, TANCET examination will be conducted in three parts as given below:
• Part – I  - Engineering Mathematics
• Part – II – Basic Engineering & Science
• Part – III – Specialization subject and candidates can choose their specialization from a list of 14 subjects offered under this category
Part I :  M. Tech/M.E/M. Arch/M. Plan Exam will have 30 objective type questions
Part II :  There is 45 objective type questions.

 Part III : In this  40 multiple choice questions and for each wrong answer 1/4th mark will be reduced.

TANCET 2015 Details Courses Eligibility

TANCET stands for Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test . It is the basic eligibility criteria for Post Graduate courses in Anna University and other Government Colleges. Some of  Post Graduate courses are M.E/M.Tech, M.B.A, M.C.A, M.Arch, M.Plan are conducted by Anna University which is issued by the Tamil Nadu Government for the purpose of admission for students to the professional PG courses.
Some of the Private and Self Finance Colleges also accepts the TANCET result for there admission process, except few of them. The UG final year Students can also apply and the application can be obtained from Anna University.
Courses under TANCET:
TANCET Mark is taken into consideration for admission of students to the following PG courses:
• Master of Business Administration (MBA)
• Master of Computer Applications (MCA)
• Master of Engineering (ME)
• Master of Technology (M.Tech)
• Master of Planning (M.Plan)
• Master of Architecture (M.Arch)
Eligibility For TANCET Exam :
For MBA : The applicants should have a Bachelor degree in any stream or equivalent from a recognised University/Institute with least of 50% marks. Candidates in their final year/ awaiting for their results can also apply. Candidates who have done their bachelor's degree after doing their diploma can also apply.
For MCA : The applicants should have Bachelors Degree of three year duration or equivalent from a recognised University/Institute with at least 50% marks (45% Marks for SC/ST ). The applicants should have studied mathematics/statistics at +2 level/diploma or graduation as the main subject in their qualify degree for this purpose.
For M.E/M.Tech : The Applicants should have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering/ Technology in the concerned discipline for which application has been made. This includes the following main disciplines: Chemical, Electrical, Electronics and Communication, Information Technology, Tele Communications, Computer Science or Software Engineering respectively.

Those who are appearing for final year / semester examination of the above qualifying degree can also apply for TANCET exam.
