The students get admission on the basis of the TANCET 2014 results in various colleges under the Tamilnadu University. Other than the colleges under Tamilnadu University there are other Deemed Universities and self-financed colleges which consider the TANCET results for admissions.

The TANCET 2014 results are announced. The TANCET 2014 Mark sheets will be dispatched to the students within 10 days of the publication of results. The mark sheet is needed at the time of admission.

Students can get a list of the colleges by visiting the URL : http://www.annauniv.edu/ .

The rat race for the M.E. /M.Tech colleges has already started. Many of you must have already visited half a dozen campuses, to see how it feels. And as most of your peers you would opt for one that gives you a sense of comfort and safety. Most of the students perpetuate what they are comfortable with and end up gravitating to the colleges their friends choose for admission. There is so much lost in such decisions of timidity. You have got a chance to adventure beyond your parameters of experiences. You should decide a college keeping in mind the reputation (to a point) and also keep in mind that a lot of learning happens outside the boundaries of a classroom. It is time to be challenged and not get coddled.

Students generally look into parameters like previous years’ placements and highest salaries offered. Such parameters often deviate one from the real search of a good college. There is a list of parameters on which the colleges can be compared. Such information should be collected before choosing a college for an admission as the entire career gets influenced by this decision. Most of the information is easily available on the website. One can also visit a particular campus or talk to the alumina of the college.
• Qualifications of the faculty
• How active is the faculty in conducting research
• Number of faculty members
• Infrastructural facilities
• Status of the institute
• Curriculum : whether it is updated often
• Curriculum flexibility : Choice of subjects offered
• Campus placement should be considered but, this parameter should not be the only one.

You need to get awareness and openness to various other cultures and such knowledge is not printed in books. Such learning will be proving to be valuable later in life.
